Dawson..Red River Senior-Class of 2010

Finally! Dawson's parents have waited oh so patiently for these to be ready. I have been fighting with my monitor for far too long and so the new one is HERE, and victory is MINE.
The session was right here in downtown Grand Forks and then on the banks of the Red River. I would have to say that Dawson was probably the easiest Senior (boy) I've worked with. He humored my indecision, all of my "just one more shot's", and the usual mishaps of a session (including, but not limited to, my shaking leaf dust on his head during posing). He was an incredible sport, very respectful and easy going, and I wish him ALL of God's blessings at Stanford University.

Brianna Heaven, Haven JulieAnne & Aslan Gabriel

Back to business! Busy, busy months..
These are my three favorite children in the whole wide world. Brianna and Haven are sisters, daughters of MY sister Jolene. Aslan is the son of my younger sister Kelly. I have been blessed to spend loads of time around these three throughout the course of their lives. All three of which have lived at home with me at some point in their life.

I am gifted by God with a wonderful, close, family. (Nosy? Yes, often. But hey, we're southern). I joke about the fact that if there is news, there needs to be only one of us told and within 1 hour ALL of us will know. (This is particularly true with us ladies, i.e.-mom and 3 sisters) And so, with the kids-we are all right there for one another to babysit, change diapers, clean up messes and then, like family, promptly give them back when necessary.

This session was interesting. The kids were very patient with my impatience during the shoot. My husband and I got to have all three for an entire week. Which was, needless to say for a couple with no children, in a word: interesting. I personally think you would be hard pressed to find a better, or more adorable, group of kids. Enjoy..

Jillian & Luke

These two were so much fun. Mr. Luke is almost 2 and the vivacious Miss Jillian is a ripe old 4 years old. As soon as I walked in the door she pranced to the front door, barefoot in her pretty magenta dress (with the daisy in her hair, nice touch Maureen), and she wanted to show me her room.
The suckers were supposed to be gifts/props but they proved initially to be a bit (very small bit) of a distraction. (Note to self: reveal treats AFTER session.)
We had lots of fun! We ran around the house, jumped on the bed, picked flowers from Mom's beautiful garden, and took a hike to the dandilion field behind the house (which proved to be a wonderful hidden treasure, Thank You Lord.). When all was done they got to attack their new monster suckers. It didn't take long before they had them demolished and ALL over themselves! That is one of my favorite things about little ones, whatever they do-their passionate about it! Thanks Maureen for letting me hang out with you guys, and Thank You Lord for dandilions, blue eyes and the untamed passion of children.

Nora, Jack & Ellen

This session was at the home of one of my husband's best friends. These three kiddos were ready to go as soon as we walked in. Their grandmother had HANDMADE their beautiful red dresses. I love to do sessions for friends, after we were done we all had pizza together. (Shameless plug: Slapshot Pizza in Grand Forks....delicious!) We had such a great time with these three, and I have to say a great big Thank You to my wonderful husband/assistant/camera bag holder, etc. I think we all know that sometimes you have to stretch your ideas to get the kids to laugh and he let us "get him" at least 20 times! On that note: mom was just as involved in the "get you" process so Thanks alot Whitney!

Sweet Sisters...

I have known these two young ladies since the beginning of my adventure in the Nort' land almost five years ago. Some children hold a special, special place with you and these are two of those. I'm so glad I was able to hang out with the girls and their parents, who are also good friends of mine and my husbands. After the session I also got to have dinner with the family. Dad is a former chef so you can imagine that dinner was delicious....I tried to get the gravy recipe but he wasn't sharing.

Enjoy the photos........and Praise the Lord, take the time to thank Him and give 'credit where credit is due' today on the National Day of Prayer!

John Allen

This session was done in funky downtown Grand Forks. The colors downtown are so vibrant! John Allen is the son of some friends of ours. It was great to spend some time with him and his mom, even with the wind...and the cold...in May (almost). He is in the 9th grade....the NINTH GRADE! He was a great sport, because I know the last thing a teenage boy wants to do is have his picture taken. They specifically wanted head shots (not that I could have conned much more out of him) hence the variation of mostly...headshots.
